“We launched a bunch of new things on All Consuming today,” says Erik. And he’s telling the truth.
It’s nowhere near complete, but we’re chiseling away and hoping today is a step toward a better All Consuming experience. The changes had me adding all sorts of books, movies, music and food & drink to my recent consumption list. Carrick added this organic green tea with ginger. He’s crazy like that.
Consume! Then give us some of your ideas for All Consuming and help us make it up and make it happen.

Hey guys - I was just wondering when the ‘Remember when I consumed this’ function will be working? I think it would be great if the lists could be reformatted according to the date you consumed each item… A lot of people I know have complained about that.

Yeah, that definitely is a frequent request. I’ll see what I can do to get it in sometime soon.

Looks good! I can’t figure out how to make my Amazon Associates # work on the Amazon links though, it has someone elses ID in there.

I like books, I like movies, I like music… you’ve missed one medium, video games.

Hello,
I’m so glad you can comment on entries and that the entries are showing up on 43peeps now! Fun Time City. I would like it if there was a link so you could see all of one person’s entries on one page. Maybe that exists but I can’t find it. I think it would also be cool if you could sort entries by “worth consuming” or “not worth consuming” on an item’s page-sometimes if I hate an item I want to see what other people who hated it have to say, so I can feel validated.

Very cool, thanks for the updates. One thing I noticed: when I try to look at (for example) books from everyone on AllConsuming, the ticker’s first page has items that were entered 25-27 weeks ago, even though listing all items brings up books that were entered less than an hour ago.
This seems to be happening for books, movies and albums, but not for food, which is probably a good thing given expiration dates.

Kestrel, yeah, when I rewrote this last in April I took out the associate id thing… we haven’t completely decided to add it back in (since we don’t even have buy buttons, and these links barely make any money at all), but then again, we may if people are interested in that.
Chuck, hm… video games… yes, we could perhaps be persuaded to add that. In the meantime, the “Other” category should work.
Maggie, yeah, we should add a way to see all of a person’s entries. Good eye. Sometimes we miss the obvious.
Bostonian, looks like there was a missing sort on that list. Should be fixed now.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone.

Another thing I just noticed — some of my old entries, which had been untitled, now are titled “A story about this”. Since they’re mostly reviews, I tried to edit one to say “A review about this”, but the change won’t take, even when I edit the review itself.

neat! hooray for progress.
a request: it would be nice if it were easy to tell at a glance whether something is a book, movie, album, or other. lots of books and movies have the same title, sometimes albums too… and since they often put movie shots on book covers, it’s not always easy to tell from the picture of the item whether it refers to a book or movie.
also, a way to report duplicates or problems might be needed. (for example, two sites for “Super Size Me” : http://www.allconsuming.net/item/view/37260 and http://www.allconsuming.net/item/view/60451. searching for movies called “Super Size Me” only brings up the second one, with only three people…)

I like the new changes, and things are coming together nicely overall. The only thing I lack for my purposes is on the syndication end. I’ve long used allconsuming to show what I’m currently reading on my site. If I want to keep doing that, it means that I can’t freely add other junk to my feed, because it’ll show up there on my site too, and mess with my “current reads” section.
Ideally I’d like to be able to get RSS for any tag I choose, and I could just make up a “currentlyreading” sort of tag to syndicate to my site, and then be free to use my recent consumption stack much more liberally. Any chance of this, or some alternative custom syndication solution, in the future?
