Site Tuning 11

Posted by drbrain Tue, 25 Apr 2006 20:23:12 GMT

43 Things might get a little slow while we shuffle the responsibilities of our boxes by tweaking the load balancer. Or it might not.

The change will allow us scale each site’s hardware with the amount of traffic it receives. I’ll be watching things and tuning as people switch, so don’t freak out if things get a little slow.

Is this why I’m getting the “oops” message when I try to access my 43 places list?

Hi I was trying my hand at something and came across this rather beautiful site! Well this might not be the most beautiful question you have heard in the past few, but I have gotten more familiar with your site by looking for a contact person? I wanted to ask if I could use one of your ‘identify this place pictures’ in a collage with a map supperimposed on top of it.. I liked it precsisly because it could be almost anywhere. I can send you the finished product for approval if I choose to use that one? can you tell me if this pursuit is hopeless or not? My email is [email protected] this is it’s url http://images.43things.com/entry/00/00/57/22295l.jpg very truly, Georgia

I just stumbled across 43things… nice app people.

Its a lot nicer to look at than myspace.

Hopefully it will scale better as well as it gets bigger.

    Hello

I’ve logged out of 43things and then I tried to log back in. But I couldn’t. It didn’t recognise my password. So I clicks the get a new password button, but I can’t put my password in as it says it already exists so i put a different one in and it tells me to have a different username.

i don’t want to change my account i just want to get in it.

    Please help.

i’ve put alot of work into my 32 things and I was enjoying the site too.

This REALLY bites. I typed out a HUGE post and “oops!” BACK SPACE TO what? It was gone.

I am going to advise people to post to a notepad first, then paste it to the comment area in case it goes poof.

I am soooo frustrated right now! Why not advise users to do this yourself?!

    Always doin’ someones dirty work….

In response to the above comment that 43 Things is like My Space but nicer? I find it nothing close to My Space, and if it DOES become like MS, I am so gone.

I am trying to create an account and it either says “username taken” or “Oops…...blah….blah”. I think I’d like to be apart of this site, but it would help if I could actually join.
